STEVEN HAO-HSUAN YEN

CELLO

Steven Yen was born in Taiwan and moved to Los Angeles in 2012. He attended Cal State Northridge where he received his undergraduate degree in Cello Performance and Music Teaching credential. Steven is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Cello Performance at Azusa Pacific University. Meanwhile, he is teaching performance practice and interpretation technique as a teaching assistant at APU. Steven has been in several professional orchestras since 2016, including the LA Dream Orchestra and California Young Artist Symphony. He had also recorded for numerous films including Pirates of the Caribbean and the Matrix. His most influential teachers include Ben Hong, Lorenz Gamma, and Marek Szpakiewicz. Steven has been a private Cello tutor since 2019. His passion for teaching cello leads him to collaborate with students and their parents to create tutoring sessions tailored for each student depending on their age, learning preference and style. His students range from middle schoolers to college professors.
